This is the “PAY ATTENTION, SHIT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN” light from the 1985.5-1991 Porsche 944. Now, I own an earlier 944, so I have no idea what the “LOOK AT ME!” light actually means, but I applaud Porsche for creating a warning light that simply said “!”.

I thought that meant, “go faster!”

That’s basically a big red middle finger light.

Means pull over and call: 1) AAA or some towing service that will take it to your mechanic; and 2) Uber, or something that will take you home. Or 3) your brother-in-law that owes you for covering up that Christmas party indiscretion ... really? - should he have put his hand up his prom date’s shirt? She was drunk, and his wife was visiting the sick grandma on the other side of the state. We will pretend it never happened.

As always, Citroen got there first.

DS dashboard:

In the left cluster:

Lots of little lights that tell you stuff you probably need to know, and a big red one in the middle that says “stop first, ask why later!” I believe it’s known to the cognoscenti as “The Big Red Light of Doom”.

I think its a weiner like a 4 bit wiener. I think it means an expensive repair bill.

Distraxi posted a DS so I’ll post a CX. You know you have a French car when you have a center dash light that says nothing but “STOP”

My Twingo has a big “stop” warning light, the French are still making them haha.

Is that a warning light to tell you to look at your brake fluid warning light?

Your interpretation is funnier though.

It would be super ironic if the “STOP” light illuminated due to a loss of brake pressure.

To be fair, I’m totally onboard with a “Big Red Light Of Doom”. My Nissan just has a “Service Engine Soon” light, and the fact that “Soon” is involved, means that soon may never come, because it’s always soon.

I’ve been told it comes on when anything, anywhere on the vehicle goes wrong. It’s basically saying “ HEY! SOMETHING BROKE! FIGURE IT OUT!”

That’s one of the things that will set it off. With the hydropneumatic system, if you lose hydraulics you lose power brakes, power steering, and suspension. And the brakes and steering are VERY heavily assisted, so you definitely want to stop while there’s some residual pressure.
